Charles Johnson "Sir Charles" is a 2004 Graduate. He is currently attending
the University of Georgia
10/23/05:
Charles
Johnson, playing on a
nagging sprained ankle, had 4
total tackles including 1 sack
for (-10 yards) in UGA's 23-20
SEC win over the Arkansas
Razorbacks.
10/9/05:
Charles Johnson
once again had a big play for UGA in their huge win
over the Volunteers of Tennessee in soldout Neyland
Stadium yesterday on national television (CBS).
Johnson had a sack, a forced fumble, and a fumble
recovery all on the same play!!
Quote from a UT offensive
lineman courtesy of a UT beat writer:
"There’s no David Pollack at Georgia this year, but Tennessee guards Cody
Douglas and Rob Smith are impressed with Georgia defensive end Quentin
Moses.
He has four sacks this season, as well as three other tackles behind the
line. Moses also leads the team in batted balls and quarterback pressures.
“I definitely think (Georgia’s defensive line is as good as last year),”
Douglas said. “Quentin Moses, man, he’s a phenomenal player.
And his backup (Charles Johnson) is
only a sophomore, but he’s going to be the real deal. Forget about the
future, he’s the real deal right now.”
And more on Charles....
"Sir" Charles Johnson was named the "Powerade Player of the
Game" by the UGA radio network for his performance against South Carolina on
Saturday before a national television audience. Charles had two sacks and
a solo tackle in the game---his last sack coming with under a minute to play on
a 3rd and 10 play as the Gamecocks were trying to work their way into field goal
position sent the sellout crowd into a thunderous roar! After the game as
we road towards out hotel we listened as famed Larry Munson "sidekick" and
sideline reporter Loran Smith interviewed Charles from a very happy and relieved UGA dressing room. Smith spoke highly of Hawkinsville and Pulaski County
and listened as Charles spoke of his UGA players and teammates as being
family---just as he had felt the family atmosphere under Coach Lee Campbell and
Red Devils during his playing days here! Additionally in an on-air
interview Coach Mark Richt said how big the sack by Johnson was with under a
minute to play. Let me tell you, as a Red Devil,
I felt extraordinary pride as Sir Charles was rewarded for a night of great play
that helped lead the Dawgs to victory! Here are a couple of pictures I
took of Charles in his now familiar #99 at the game from the stands.

In the picture below, fellow UGA Dawg and former Class A great
Brandon Miller #12 of the Miller County Pirates is lined up right behind
Charles.

Sophomore Charles Johnson, listed as a second team defensive
end at UGA, got a lot of playing time recently as the Dawgs routed Boise
State. Johnson had a tipped pass/quarterback hurry in the second half.
