Lady Devils Defeat Lady Bobcats

              On Tuesday, January 26th, the Devils traveled to  Preston to face the Webster County Bobcats for a pair of Varsity games. Then on Friday, January 29th, the Devils hosted the Wilcox County Patriots for three games played by the Junior Varsity Red Devils and Varsity Lady Devils and Varsity Red Devils. Saturday, January 30th, saw the Devils on the road to Lumpkin to take on the Stewart County Knights.   

 

Hawkinsville v. Webster County 

 

          The first game of the day was played by the Hawkinsville Lady Devils and the Webster County Lady Bobcats.  The Lady Devils sank the first basket of the game and never trailed in this game.  At one point the score was tied, but Hawkinsville did not let that stand in the way of winning the game.  At the end of the first quarter, the Lady Devils were leading 8 to 4.  The teams went to the locker rooms at the end of the second quarter with the scored tied at 12 points apiece.  The third quarter ended with the Lady Devils ahead 21 to 16.  The final score was Hawkinsville 28, Webster County 21. 

 

          The Lady Devils combined to pull down 39 rebounds, 24 of those being defensive rebounds.  Leading rebounders were Ashley Gilbert with 14 and Ykeshia Baker with 11.  The Lady Devils gave 5 assists, led by Taquonda Brown and Ykeshia Baker with 2 assists each.  Hawkinsville had 10 steals.  The team was led by Taquonda Brown and Ykeshia Baker with 3 steals apiece.  The Lady Devils blocked 5 shots, led by Ykeshia Baker with 3.  The team had 8 defensive deflections.  Hawkinsville scored 8 points and allowed 2 points on turnovers.  The Lady Devils had one player in double figures. 

 

          The second game of the day was played by the Hawkinsville Red Devils and the Webster County Bobcats.  The score in this game stayed very close with neither team leading by more than 6 points at any time.  The lead seesawed back and forth between the Red Devils and the Bobcats.  At the end of the first quarter the Red Devils were down by a single basket, 14 to 16.  The teams went to the locker rooms at the end of the second quarter with Hawkinsville behind 30 to 34.  The third quarter ended with the Red Devils trailing 44 to 49.  The final score was Hawkinsville 54, Webster County 60. 

 

          The Red Devils combined to pull down 22 rebounds, 15 of those being defensive rebounds.  Leading rebounders were Brandon Adams with 6 and Jarvis Tinsley with 4.  The Red Devils gave 5 assists, led by Jarvis Tinsley with 2 assists.  Hawkinsville had 7 steals.  The team was led by Cameron Moses with 3 steals.  The Red Devils blocked 4 shots, led by Jarvis Tinsley with 3.  The team had 8 defensive deflections.  Hawkinsville scored 8 points and allowed 6 points on turnovers.  The Red Devils had two players in double figures. 

 

Hawkinsville v. Wilcox County 

 

          The first game of the evening was contested between the Junior Varsity Red Devils and the JV Patriots.  The final score of this game was Hawkinsville 44, Wilcox County 66. 

 

          The second game of the evening was contested between the Lady Devils and the Lady Patriots.  The first quarter ended with the Lady Devils down 11 to 14.  At the end of the second quarter Hawkinsville was down 23 to 30.  The Lady Devils were trailing 30 to 42 at the end of the third quarter.  The final score was Hawkinsville 46, Wilcox County 60. 

 

          The Lady Devils combined to pull down 35 rebounds, 20 of those being defensive rebounds.  Leading rebounders were Sharinea Coley and Ykeshia Baker with 8 rebounds each, and Kamara Bembry with 5 rebounds.  The Lady Devils gave 5 assists, led by Jasmine Duhart with 3 assists.  Hawkinsville had 10 steals.  The team was led by Sharinea Coley with 4 steals.  The Lady Devils blocked one shot.  The team had 17 defensive deflections.  Hawkinsville scored 6 points and allowed 4 points on turnovers.  The Lady Devils had three players in double figures. 

 

          The third game of the evening was contested between the Red Devils and the Patriots.  The first quarter ended with the Red Devils down 11 to 16.  At the end of the second quarter Hawkinsville was down 23 to 39.  The Red Devils were trailing 40 to 69 at the end of the third quarter.  The final score was Hawkinsville 61 to 95. 

 

          The Red Devils combined to pull down 40 rebounds, 29 of those being defensive rebounds.  Leading rebounders were Alex Andrews with 9, Brandon Adams with 8, Aaron Black with 7, and Cameron Moses with 6.  The Red Devils gave 9 assists, led by Alex Andrews and Darrien Brown, Jr. with 3 assists each.  Hawkinsville had 9 steals.  The team was led by Darrien Brown, Jr. with 4 steals.  The Red Devils block 8 shots, led by Alex Andrews with 6.  The team had 4 defensive deflections.  Hawkinsville scored 6 points and allowed 11 points on turnovers.  The Red Devils had three players in double figures. 

 

Hawkinsville v. Stewart County 

 

          The Lady Devils faced the Lady Knights in the first game of the night.  The Lady Devils were down 5 to 9 at the end of the first quarter.  When the second quarter ended, Hawkinsville was behind 8 to 22.  At the end of the third quarter the Lady Devils were trailing 20 to 36.  The final score was Hawkinsville 36, Stewart County 48. 

 

          The Lady Devils combined to pull down 28 rebounds, 16 of those being defensive rebounds.  Leading rebounders were Ykeshia Baker with 11, Brittany Palode with 4, and Sharinea Coley and Ashley Gilbert with 3 each.  The Lady Devils gave 5 assists, led by Sharinea Coley with 3 assists.  Hawkinsville had 13 steals.  The team was led by Taquonda Brown with 5 steals.  The Lady Devils blocked 5 shots, led by Ykeshia Baker with 2.  The team had 18 defensive deflections.  Hawkinsville scored 6 points and allowed 4 points on turnovers.  The Lady Devils had one player in double figures. 

 

          The Red Devils faced the Knights in the second game of the night.  The Red Devils were down 16 to 18 at the end of the first quarter.  When the second quarter ended, Hawkinsville was behind by a single digit, 32 to 33.  At the end of the third quarter the Red Devils were trailing 47 to 51.  The final score was Hawkinsville 53, Stewart County 69. 

 

          The Red Devils combined to pull down 26 rebounds, 15 of those being defensive rebounds.  Leading rebounders were Alex Andrews with 5, and Aaron Black and Shaquille Loving with 4 each.  The Red Devils gave 8 assists, led by Cameron Moses with 3 assists.  Hawkinsville had 6 steals.  The team was led by Cameron Moses and Darrien Brown, Jr. with 2 steals apiece.  The Red Devils blocked 3 shots, led by Alex Andrews with 2.  The team had 9 defensive deflections.  Hawkinsville scored 4 points and allowed 2 points on turnovers.  The Red Devils had one player in double figures. 

 

HHS Game Schedule 

 

          There are only a few more basketball games left before the regular season ends.  On Saturday, February 6th, the Devils will host the Dooly County Bobcats for four games.  The two JV games are scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. with the two Varsity games scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.  Tuesday, February 9th, will see the Devils hosting the Dodge County Indians for three games.  The JV game is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. with the two Varsity games scheduled to begin at 6:00 p.m.  The final regular season game will be played on Friday, February 12th.  The Devils will travel to Ashburn to face the Turner County Rebels for four games.  The JV games are scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m. with the two Varsity games scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
