Red Devils Defeat Royals
Hawkinsville v. Bleckley County
On Tuesday, December 8th, the Devils traveled to Cochran to face the Bleckley
County Royals for three games. The Junior Varsity Red Devils played in the first game of the
evening. The final score in that game was Hawkinsville 28, Dodge County 37.
The second game of the evening was played between the Lady Devils and the Lady
Royals. At the end of the first quarter, the Lady Royals were leading 8 to 3. When the second
quarter ended, Hawkinsville had charged back and was trailing slightly, down 11 to 13. The third
quarter ended with the Lady Devils behind 15 to 31. The final score was Hawkinsville 24, Bleckley
County 49.
The Lady Devils combined to pull down 37 rebounds, 20 of those being defensive
rebounds. Leading rebounders were Ykeshia Baker with 9, Ashley Gilbert with 8, and Nashonta Paul with
7. The Lady Devils gave 3 assists. Hawkinsville had 6 steals. The team was led by Sharinea
Coley with 4 steals. The Lady Devils blocked 7 shots, led by Ykeshia Baker with 5. The team had
18 defensive deflections. Hawkinsville scored no points on turnovers and allowed 12 points on
turnovers.
The third game of the day saw the Red Devils squaring off against the Royals. The
first quarter ended with the Red Devils down by a single basket, 7 to 9. At the end of the second
quarter, Hawkinsville was trailing 11 to 16. When the third quarter ended, the Red Devils had charged
back to tie the game at 22 points each with a buzzer beating three-point shot. The score stayed close
throughout the fourth quarter with neither team leading by more than two points until the final minute of the
game. With 1:09 left on the clock, the Red Devils sank two baskets in a row to lead by three
points. The Royals had closed the gap to two points with 35.5 seconds on the clock. However, the
Red Devils would not be denied the win. The Royals were not able to score again, while the Red Devils
sank four free throws in the final half-minute to seal the win. The final score was Hawkinsville 36,
Bleckley County 30.
The Red Devils combined to pull down 35 rebounds, 19 of those being defensive
rebounds. Leading rebounders were Aaron Black with 9, Brandon Adams with 5, and Jarvis Tinsley, Alex
Andrews, and Bobby Anderson with 4 rebounds apiece. The Red Devils gave 4 assists, led by Darrien
Brown, Jr. with 2. Hawkinsville had 11 steals. The team was led by Camaron Moses with 5 and
Jarvis Tinsley with 3. The Red Devils blocked 5 shots. The team had 11 defensive
deflections. Hawkinsville scored 4 points on turnovers and allowed no points on turnovers. The
Red Devils had one player in double figures.
Hawkinsville v. Lee County
Hawkinsville hosted the Lee County Trojans for four games on Friday, December
11th. The first game of the day was played between the Junior Varsity Lady Devils and the JV
Lady Trojans. The final score was Hawkinsville 15, Lee County 41. The second game of the day was
played between the JV Red Devils and the JV Trojans. The final score was Hawkinsville 50, Lee County
40.
The third game of the day was played by the Lady Devils and the Lady Trojans. The
score at the end of the first quarter saw the Lady Devils trailing 8 to 16. When the teams went to the
locker rooms at the end of the second quarter, Lee County was leading 31 to 19. The third quarter ended
with the Lady Devils down 22 to 41. The final score was Hawkinsville 33, Lee County
54.
The Lady Devils combined to pull down 27 rebounds, 22 of those being defensive
rebounds. Leading rebounders were Ykeshia Baker with 9 and Kamara Bembry with 6. The Lady Devils
gave 4 assists. Hawkinsville had 16 steals. The team was led by Ykeshia Baker and Kamara Bembry
with 5 steals apiece and Akebia Jenkins with 3 steals. The Lady Devils blocked 6 shots, led by Brittany
Palode with 3. The team had 7 defensive deflections. Hawkinsville scored 2 points on turnovers
and allowed 17 points on turnovers.
The fourth game of the day was played by the Red Devils and the Trojans. The score
in this game stayed fairly close throughout the night. At the end of the first quarter the Red Devils
were down a single point, 12 to 13. At the end of the second quarter Lee County was leading 35 to
30. When the third quarter ended, the Red Devils had gained the lead, up 52 to 49. The lead
seesawed back and forth throughout the fourth quarter and was tied several times. The final score was
Hawkinsville 68, Lee County 72.
The Red Devils combined to pull down 34 rebounds, 20 of those being defensive
rebounds. Leading rebounders were Darrien Brown, Jr. with 8, Aaron Black with 5, and Alex Andrews,
Brandon Adams, and Camaron Moses with 4 apiece. The Red Devils gave 8 assists, led by Aaron Black with
3 and Darrien Brown, Jr. with 2. Hawkinsville had 15 steals. The team was led by Darrien Brown,
Jr. with 5, and Alex Andrews and Camaron Moses with 3 each. The Red Devils blocked 4 shots, led by
Bobby Anderson with 3. The team had 7 defensive deflections. Hawkinsville scored 6 points on
turnovers and allowed 6 points on turnovers. The Red Devils had 3 players in double
figures.
Pulaski County Middle School Game Schedule
On Thursday, December 17th, the PCMS Devils will host the Dooly County Bobcats
for a pair of games beginning at 4:00 p.m. The teams will participate in the Wilkinson County Christmas
Tournament on December 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. Game times are unknown at
this time.
HHS Game Schedule
The Devils will then host the Bleckley County Royals on Friday, December
18th. There will be a pair of JV games beginning at 4:00 p.m. with the Varsity games
beginning at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, December 19th will see the Devils traveling to Wilkinson County to participate in the
Middle Georgia Shootout. Game times are unknown at this time. The Devils will participate in the
annual Houston County Bear Brawl December 21st, 22nd, and 23rd. The
Lady Devils will play their first game on Monday, December 21st at 4:00 p.m. against the Warner Robins Demonettes. The Red Devils
will play their first game on Monday, December 21st at 5:30 p.m. against the Warner Robins Demons. The outcome of
